Artist Biography
Born • Dec 18, 1977
Lund stands out as the oldest city in Sweden. Located in the Swedish countryside, it takes six hours by car to visit from the Capital of Stockholm. Growing up in this quiet town, music opened the window to a much larger world for Axwell.
The five-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, DJ, producer, and co-founder of both Swedish House Mafia and Axwell Λ Ingrosso took the first step on his journey as a kid in Lund. He discovered a music game on his old school Amiga 500 desktop and unassumingly unlocked his future in the process.
“Where I’m from, it was hard to create a band,” he recalls. “I was so serious with my drums, and I realized the group thing wasn’t going to work out since I lived out in the country. I found that game on the computer, and I felt like I could actually create something for the first time.”

He delivered popular remixes of “Burn” by Usher, “Ma, I Don’t Love Her” by Clipse and Faith Evans, “Maybe” by NER*D, “Angel” by Pharrell, “Promiscuous” by Nelly Furtado, and “Jump” by Madonna, to name a few. Following the 2005 solo anthem “Watch The Sunrise,” he linked up with Steve Angello in Supermode and earned a hit in the form of “Tell Me Why.” In 2007, he gained momentum with “I Found U” [feat. Max’C], soaring to #6 on the UK Singles Chart. His profile rose by co-writing and co-producing Cyndi Lauper’s “Rain On Me,” crafting “What A Wonderful World” [feat. Ron Carroll] with Bob Sinclar, and collaborating with Dirty South on “Open Your Heart.” Plus, Adele enlisted him to remix “Hometown Glory.”
During 2008, he joined forces with Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso to launch Swedish House Mafia. The group effectively took over the world. They notched back-to-back GRAMMY® nominations in the category of “Best Dance Recording” for the platinum “Save the World” in 2012 and quintuple-platinum “Don’t You Worry Child” in ...
